About
Lonnie Miller has 6 years of experience as a passionate costume designer, stitcher, and wardrobe hand. She has worked on professional summer stock and college productions, and trained extensively in the classroom, on her own, and on the job. They are particularly passionate about period and historical design and construction, and they bring their various perspectives as a theatre-maker to the table in all their design work.

The Thaumatrope Game
This is the design board for a new work produced at Columbia University: a murder mystery set in the 1940s. As head of a three-person costume team, Lonnie designed, pulled and altered pieces from stock to bring these vibrant characters to life.

Historical Costumes
Lonnie is passionate about historical costume construction. To create a garment, she researches and implements historical patterns and construction methods of the 18th, 19th, and 20th century, taking joy in the silhouettes and details.

___
These photos show a selection of Lonnie's historical creations, including a modified 1840s two-piece gown, a 1904 corset, an 1830s ballgown (draped out of newspaper), and a complete 18th-century outfit with handmade stays.

Sunday in the Park with George
Lonnie designed and built this student-produced show as head of a two-person costume team. They constructed 1880s day bodices and skirts from historical patterns on a 2-week timeline, as well as pulling items from stock.

Play Here, Please
These are two of four character designs from a costume class project, designed for one of Suzan-Lori Parks' 365 Days/365 Plays.

___
The designs were researched and sketched, and then items were pulled from stock to fulfill the design vision as closely as possible.
